CSWA PRIMETIME in the Meadowlands
March 15, 2004
Meadowlands Arena, New Jersey

Eli Flair vs. Steel Viper

New Jersey was close enough to New York for this to be a hometown crowd for the King of Extreme, and he would need the support - facing off against a very tough, very eager Steel Viper. These two wily veterans had faced off once before, years ago, fighting to a draw. This time, as Viper kicked things off with a sudden clothesline and half nelson slam! He nearly won the upset with a quick cover, but Eli kicked out and rolled to the outside where he took a few seconds to catch his breath! When he finally slid back in, he faked a dive for Viper's leg and took him down at the waist!

A quick anklelock nearly got a submission but Viper was close enough to the ropes to hook 'em and break the hold. Eli wrenched back and pulled, and Viper flew back toward the middle of the ring. The momentum broke the hold, however, and Viper was able to regain control.

He pulled Eli up and hooked his head, but Eli landed several hard elbows to the ribs to break it, kicked him in the gut, and dropped him hard with a DDT!

From that point on it was all Flair, as the two men held fairly even but Eli was never in any trouble. He ended it as he's ended most of his matches - with the Fallen One in the middle of the ring.

After the match, Mark Windham appeared in front of the CSWAvision, just staring at the two in the ring. Ivy yelled something at him, Eli invited him into the ring, but the Lost Soul left the area without further incident.

Winner: Eli Flair

That Other Big Gold Belt

(The match between Mark Windham and Sean Stevens was about to happen, the crowd was buzzing in excitement as the old guard would meet the new guard tonight…)

(All of a sudden, the lights in the Meadowlands went black as “In My Time of Dying” by Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes blasted over the speakers.)

(The house lights fired on and a visibly fired up ‘The Wolf’ Mike Randalls walked down the entrance aisle holding a duffel bag and a microphone. Randalls rolled in the ring as he received a mixed reception from the Meadowlands crowd that had booed his actions against Lawrence Stanley and Evan Aho earlier in the night.)

RANDALLS: Tonight, my ethics have been questioned. My morals have been placed in doubt, for the sheer fact that I am not willing to spill another man’s blood out of personal glory or past vendettas. When I first returned to the CSWA, I had promised that I would lead this league into the light…that I would pave a new path to follow.

(Randalls paces around the ring for a moment, in thought before raising his head and emerald eyes out to the hushed Meadowlands…)

RANDALLS: Invariably, I have learned that your trust will have to be earned through tactics I had hoped would NOT have to be used. Perhaps I was wrong to believe that this sport needed a man at the top of the mountain that stood for something more than we’ve all seen customarily through the years. Your typical heroes like Hornet, Shane Southern, Eli Flair, Evan Aho or Deacon that use the status of World Champion as their barometer of success…much like yourselves.

(Randalls stands in place, looking the Meadowlands over…)

RANDALLS: I’ve heard Eli Flair and Poison Ivy talk about the ‘Golden Age’ of wrestling, a time when this league set the standard for this sport instead of setting the standard on how to become lost in it…

(Randalls bends over and unzips the duffel back, lifts it up and turns it over…dropping something onto the mat that makes the crowd buzz loudly and look at each in disbelief.

The Unified Heavyweight Championship of the World.)

(A title that had disappeared from the sport almost five years ago due to the man that last held it and the politics that surrounded the last ever reign over the title…)

RANDALLS: You recognize this. The belt that defines your “GOLDEN” Age. The belt that the CSWA recognizes as something I’ve held three times, when in actuality I’ve held it on four separate occasions.

(Randalls picks up the title belt and holds it near the microphone he speaks into…)

RANDALLS: A title that I used as a mechanism of destruction…a title that I used for my own personal bloodlust...to satisfy my inner demons and desires. This title, the apex of YOUR Golden Age, which I single-handedly destroyed.

(Randalls slings the title belt over his shoulder as the crowd murmurs excitedly, knowing there’s no way this should be allowed on CSWA television…)

RANDALLS: Evan Aho. Tonight, you made a mockery of my beliefs. You stopped just short of calling my match against Lawrence Stanley a sham. Perhaps, the fans will thank you for your decision to change the course. But I will not…there are men that deserve to bleed and there are men that deserve to be tested. I only wanted to test Stanley…I only wanted to test Cruise. But since I’ve returned, its become apparent that your ego will want nothing less than myself in a state of constant attack and aggression…

(The cameras close in on Randalls’ emerald eyes which icily stare back into the lens…)

RANDALLS: I’ve mulled this for quite a considerable time, expecting a backlash from yourself in response to my current state of affairs within the Squared Circle. Tonight, you played your hand…yet, I’ve been wanting to play mine for quite some time…I shall be returning this title to Chad Merritt at CSWA15. In order to cleanse myself of the shame and depression this title now causes me, I wish to give it one last honorable defense…for if there’s anything this title earned from being the apex of a “Golden Age”…perhaps, its time it got treated as such. I expect you to be across that ring for the defense. I once sold my soul for this title, Evan. I ask that at CSWA15 you become part of its Salvation. I vow that the man you saw wrestle Cameron Cruise and Lawrence Stanley will not walk into that ring, Evan… but if you want MY best, Evan…it will ONLY come if you bring YOURS.

(Randalls holds up the title belt to the camera…)

RANDALLS: That’s what this title belt should have been about, Evan. It should’ve been about the two best WRESTLERS in the world giving their all to prove they are the apex of this sport. And for one night, I intend to prove that the apex is still myself. I just hope you are able to challenge that.

(Randalls dropped the microphone as the crowd buzzed loudly in shock, CSWA PRIMETIME cut to commercial.)
