CSWA SHOWTIME in Las Vegas October 29, 1995 BB: We are BACK here on this special two-hour edition of CSWA SHOWTIME at Caesar's Palace in the bright city of Las Vegas, just moments away from the start of an incredible match. As I said before the commercial break, this is the fourth meeting between these two wrestling superstars. But tonight, there is no Full Force, there is no Marvin Parsons, no electrified steel cage. Hornet is not injured, and neither man has a world championship around his waist. This match should be much different from any of the first three from earlier this year. But there's no doubt that it will be a great one. Let's go to Rhubarb for the introductions. RJ: Thanks Bill. Caesar's Palace, are you ready??? (crowd screams) The following match is one-fall, with no time limit. It is a top contenders match featuring the following two top wrestlers in the CSWA. First, hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, he stands at 6'4, 263 pounds. He is a former WCWF World Heavyweight Champion, the first man and the only man to hold the Enterprise World Heavyweight Championship twice. He is also a former UNIFIED World Heavyweight Champion. He is currently ranked #12 in the CSWA, having returned from his suspension from the CSWA this summer. Some call him the KING OF DARKNESS, but all call him "DEVASTATING" MIKE RANDALLS! (most of the crowd boos, while a few hold up foam replicas of the wooden stake Randalls carries with him) His opponent hails from Greensboro, North Carolina and stands at 6'5, 269 pounds. He just celebrated his 27th birthday, and is well known throughout the CSWA and the wrestling world. His list of championships is immense, among them three CSWA World Championships, a CSWA Unified Title, and dozens of other league World Championships. He is best known for creating the UNIFIED World Championship, and is the only man who has held the title twice. Tonight, he faces the man who took that title away from him earlier this year. Some call him the "Greatest American Hero," others just call him "Champ," but to all he is the One, the Only......HORNET!!!!!!!!! (The standing crowd cheers wildly as a stern-faced Hornet approaches ringside.) BB: Sammy, these two men have had incredible matches, and that's got to be partly because they're the same size, with the same power, as well as incredible technical ability. SB: Well, you're not gonna see these two men brawl unless they get absolutely furious, that's for sure. BB: What's wrong, Sammy? You don't look very happy? SB: I'm not. I don't like this matchup. There's no reason for it yet, neither one of these men has a title; and Randalls could certainly find an easier way up the rankings. And what does Hornet gain out of all this? Not the Unified Title, not the top contender position. He could be preparing for Adler, Windham, or Flair; instead, he's takes on a man who's beaten him twice? BB: These two men had an intense rivalry earlier this year. Both men want to be the top in the game, and apparently each thinks this is a good way to show their dominance. SB: I don't buy that. Neither one of these men needs to show their dominance. I just don't like this at all. It's a waste. BB: Well, I don't think the fans agree with you, Sammy. This has been one of the most awaited matchups since Randalls return from suspension in September. Both men are in the ring, and referee Ben Worthington does not look very thrilled to be between these two guys. Especially not with Randalls brandishing that sharpened wooden stake in the corner. SB: That's the stake he put through GUNS' knee in June, causing that suspension. You can still see traces of blood on it. BB: That stake, along with the scorpion deathlock of Hornet, caused GUNS' retirement. Just before Battle of the Belts 12, I had the chance to interview GUNS, who had just begun recovering from his knee surgery. He wanted this match to happen, he almost begged Hornet to sign this match. SB: You can bet that he's at home glued to the TV set, that bum knee of his planted up on a soft foot rest. BB: We're ready to get this one underway. Worthington calls for the bell as Randalls sets that bloody stake on the ring apron by his corner. SB: Hornet may get a taste of that stake before the night's over. BB: Only if Randalls wants to get suspended again. And I don't think Ray S. Cornette and the rest of the REAL CORP. want that to happen. Speaking of which, where is the ratface? SB: I spoke to him just before the card. He said Randalls wanted to take care of this one by himself, with no interference. BB: That's a surprise...this is the man who had FULL FORCE injured Hornet so he'd have a leg up. SB: But I think Randalls wants to prove that his two wins over Hornet were no flukes. Randalls wants to dispel all the myths by pinning a healthy Hornet who is at the top of his game. When Randalls wins this match tonight, Hornet will have no excuses, as he's been so fond of saying recently. BB: The two men in the ring have circled each other quite a bit while thinking about locking up. There was no attempt at shaking hands, no "good lucks" tossed back and forth. If you look in the eyes of these two men, they are all business. They finally lock up, and it is Randalls who comes out on top, tossing Hornet down on his backside with a slam. Hornet quickly gets to his feet and whips Randalls into a turnbuckle, but doesn't follow in. Randalls rubs his back and starts back across to the middle of the ring. I'm surprised, Sammy, I thought we might see these two men get angry early. SB: I don't know what's going on, Bill. All I can figure is after last night, neither man knows exactly what to think about the other. BB: Sammy's referring to last night's SuperPRIMETIME in Des Moines, Iowa, where Randalls was attacked by Flair's CORPORATION before his "I Quit" match with Tom Adler. It was Hornet who came down to ringside to Randalls' aid, saving him from the brunt of the wrath of Flair and his men. SB: All I can think of is this. Hornet has been trading words, as well as punches with Mark Windham. But both of those men know that everytime they step in the ring against each other one-on-one, something happens. The first time, Cornette interfered and almost beat the life out of them. The second time, the ref, Carl Young, had a heart attack after ruling the match a draw because they pinned each other. And the third time, we all got to see Mickey Benedict pop Mark Windham over the head with a microphone after Windham jacked him up. So, all I can figure, is that neither Hornet or Windham wants to chance the singles match again, and they're going to try a tag match this time. Windham's got his obvious partner, Tom Adler, another man that Hornet doesn't particularly like. Hornet, however, has no obvious partner. JT Tyler is out of wrestling, as is Shea Friedman, who Hornet held his first US Tag Titles with. BB: Inside the ring, the two men lock up again. Randalls tries to put Hornet over with a back suplex, but Hornet blocks the move and puts Randalls down with a quick belly to back. Hornet quickly follows up with a full nelson down on the mat. Sorry to interrupt, Sammy. SB: Yeah, sure. Well, the last man Hornet tagged with was Timmy Windham, also against Mark. But Timmy Windham has been injured, so Hornet is left without anyone on his side. BB: But I'm sure there are quite a few men who would tag with Hornet. Randalls scrambles out of the full nelson, but Hornet quickly hooks in a bear hug from behind, still working on the back of Randalls. SB: Sure there are wrestlers who would tag with him, but the list gets smaller when you figure every man out there knows they'd be facing Mark Windham and Tom Adler. Plus, I'm sure Hornet doesn't want any partner, he wants a GOOD partner. And that could be where Mike Randalls comes in. The two men have been partners before, along with Mark Windham, in the WHEEL OF DEATH match in January of this year. They were tenuous partners at best, but hey, they won the match. And Randalls has his own reasons to want to get in the ring against both Adler and Windham. This could be an opportunity too good for him to pass up. BB: Well, Hornet hasn't hinted at who he's going to ask to be his partner, but it's certain Randalls could be a prospect. Meanwhile, Randalls charges out of the bear hug after an elbow. He comes off the ropes and sends Hornet down as they collide. Randalls heads to the ropes again, and this time locks up with Hornet and put him down with a back suplex. He doesn't go for the quick pin, however. SB: He knows that at this point it's just a waste of time. No point in expending the effort. BB: Instead, the former two-time EN World Champ cinches in a camel clutch. That's a momentum changer right there. Randalls has started work on Hornet's most vulnerable area, plus he's countered all of Hornet's power and agility in one fell swoop. Hornet tries to power out, but he's unable to knock Randalls' 263 pound frame off of the seat he's claimed, that seat being Hornet's back! Hornet grimaces as he continues to try and break the hold. Finally he tries to reach for the ropes, but there he thwarted too, unable to grasp the rope just inches away. He pulls with all his might and finally grabs the rope. Worthington calls for the break. Randalls does so, and then follows up with a couple of swift kicks to the midsection of the kneeling Hornet. Hornet drops to his stomach, and Randalls stomps on his back. Referee Worthington warns Randalls, but it's no use, as Randalls grabs Hornet's legs and pulls him a little ways from the ropes. Hornet tries to kick Randalls, away, but Mike is able to hook on a step over toe hold! SB: Smart move. He could've tried the figure four, but Horent would've had a target to kick at. Instead, he cinches in the step-over. BB: More, after this quick commercial! BB: Welcome back, fans. Hornet is still stuck in the step over toe hold, but has inched his way closer to the ropes. He finally gets a finger hold on them and Worthington calls for the break. Randalls is unwilling to break the hold, and Worthington has to pry the legs of the two men apart. Hornet quickly rolls outside for a breather, and Randalls follows. Randalls sends Hornet back-first into the metal barricade in front of the fans, and then whips him into the apron, again back-first. SB: Randalls' interviews may be full of his trademark "DARKNESS" talk, and many may call him a little unbalanced because of that, but this man is no Junior Hornet. He's a smart man, and knows what he's doing at all times. BB: Randalls rolls the grimacing Hornet back into the ring, but it is Hornet who is on his feet first as Randalls rolls himself back in. Hornet grabs Randalls by the arm and tries to whip him into the ropes as Randalls gets to his feet, but Mike is able to reverse the irish whip, sending Hornet into the ropes. Randalls prepares to dodge the clothesline or flying body press, but instead, Hornet catches him with the flying dropkick square to the chest. Randalls took that one hard, and it sends him out of the ring through the second rope and down to the floor! Randalls is a little slow getting to his feet, and as he does, Hornet runs across the ring and slides his feet under the bottom rope, catching Randalls with a modified dropkick that way that sends Mike into the metal barricade. Turnabout is fair play, I guess. SB: There's no fair play when it comes to Hornet. He's the Antichrist, remember? BB: Thanks Mr. Williams. Hornet rolls under the bottom rope and clotheslines Randalls, sending the former Unified Champ over the metal barricade and into the laps of the fans. Hornet then heads back into the ring, waiting for Randalls to come back in. Randalls takes a few seconds coming to his feet and climbs over the barricade. SB: Uh oh.....I think Hornet made him mad. BB: Does that mean his eyes are going turn red again? SB: Who knows with this guy? BB: Randalls climbs carefully back into the ring, wary of an attack by Hornet. Instead, Hornet waits and the two meet up again in the center of the ring. Randalls whips Hornet into the ropes....BIG CLOTHESLINE by Randalls. Hornet climbs to his feet and get leveled by another clothesline! And this time as Hornet gets up, Randalls drops him with a DDT! Randalls hooks the leg for the cover, but gets only a one-count. But he caught Hornet full on with that one, the two-time Unified Champ is still on the mat, rolling around with his hands cradling his head. Randalls takes advantage of his handiwork to deliver a few more stomps with his boots to the back of the aching Hornet. Hornet rolls away from Randalls and ends up against the turnbuckle in his corner. Randalls follows in and drops a knee onto Hornet's side. Now he follows up by using the ropes for leverage and dropping a boot hard down on Hornet's side. Worthington cautions him, and Randalls stops. Wait a minute. Randalls stops? SB: It's sure not because of Worthington! Look at who decided to show up! BB: Randalls saw first what we have all just seen....GUNS is making his way down the aisle. SB: He said he'd be in Hornet's corner for this match, but Hornet never accepted the offer. I guess he just couldn't resist watching this one. Unfortunately, his man isn't winning. BB: Randalls points at GUNS, who is on crutches and says something that I can't make out. SB: I don't think you could say it on television even if you could make it out. BB: GUNS doesn't return the jeer. But Hornet does, climbing to his feet and tackling Randalls with great speed. He definitely caught Randalls off guard there, and now he's on top of him pummeling him. But now Randalls recovers and pushes Hornet off of him. The two men are on their feet and they grapple in a test of strength. Hornet gets the edge and then plants a boot in Randalls' stomach. Hornet whips Randalls into the ropes and catches him on the rebound with a flying dropkick. Hornet quickly follows with a belly to back suplex on the downed Randalls. Randalls tries to pull Hornet down to the mat with him, but is unsuccessful. Hornet grabs Randalls legs and turns him over, sitting down in a boston crab! Randalls quickly grabs for the ropes, and Worthington calls for the break. Hornet breaks the crab, but quickly continues his momentum push with another belly to back suplex. Hornet pulls Randalls to his feet and hooks in an abdominal stretch in the center of the ring. Randalls is obviously in pain from the maneuver, and tries to break free. But Hornet has it cinched in tight. Randalls looks around for a rope to grab, but there are none within reach. What Randalls is left with is being stuck in a painful hold. SB: Not to mention he facing in the same direction where GUNS is standing. BB: And GUNS looks like he's yelling something out at Randalls. Randalls' attempt to break out of the hold gets even more forceful, and Hornet is forced to release the ad stretch. But Hornet remains in control. He sends Randalls down with another belly to back. And now he's going to whip Randalls across the ring. SB: Oh no. Lord, no, please let Randalls get out of the way. BB: Hornet irish whips Randalls diagonally across the ring, and Randalls hits the turnbuckle hard with his back. And here comes Hornet across for the HORNET SPLASH!!! But Randalls rolls out of the turnbuckle with Hornet in midair! SB: YES! BB: Hornet heads into the corner, but nobody's home! But he didn't crash into the buckle! He caught himself standing on the second rope! SB: WHAT? BB: Randalls doesn't know what's happened! He turns around to take the boot to Hornet, and Hornet comes off the ropes with a reverse flying body press!!!! He's got the leg hooked! Worthington's down to count! ONE........................................................ TWO........................................................ BB: THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO! Referee Ben Worthington says Randalls got his shoulder up just before the three-count. Hornet is saying something to Worthington, and Randalls rolls the former two-time Unified Champ up! ONE..........TWO.....no, Hornet kicks out, and both men scramble to their feet. Hornet was just a heartbeat away from a big victory! But now, Randalls sends Hornet into the ropes and sends him flying and into the other side of the ropes neck-first with a STUN GUN! Randalls hooks the leg, but gets only a one-count with the cover. Randalls tries to hook in the figure four, but Hornet kicks him away. Instead, Randalls sends Hornet to the mat with a german suplex! Randalls hooks the leg, but again only a one-count by Worthington who had to dive to get to the mat and count that one. Randalls pulls the stunned Hornet to his feet and comes off the ropes for a flying body press!!! But Hornet ducks the attempt at a cover! Randalls goes flying into the referee! SB: Oh no. Can this Worthington idiot ever stay out of the way? BB: Hey, it wasn't Ben's fault, Sammy. He was on the other side of the action, at least until the duck by Hornet! Randalls gets to his feet and disentangles himself from Worthington, but Hornet is on his feet and he drops Randalls with a dropkick! Both men get to their feet quickly! SB: Hey, what is GUNS doing? He wasn't there a second ago!? BB: GUNS is halfway around the ring from where he was. SB: He's moving faster than he was earlier with those crutches! BB: Inside the ring, Hornet and Randalls are trading punches. Randalls whips Hornet into the ropes, and then sends him over the top rope with a back bodydrop! That's a disqualification! SB: Not when the ref is out, goof. Hey, WHAT IS GUNS DOING!? BB: He just dropped the crutches and he grabs the wooden stake out of Randalls corner. Now he's rolling into the ring!!!! Randalls is still facing towards Hornet, but the yelling of the crowd prompts him to turn around! He sees GUNS, but it's too late, GUNS comes off the ropes and nails Randalls in the head with the stake!!!! SB: GUNS runs??? RUNS??? The man just had major knee surgery for goodness sakes! What the h*ll is going on here? BB: Randalls was knocked against the ropes by that hit, but now GUNS jabs Randalls in the stomach with his massive fists and that stake! Randalls doubles over, and GUNS nails Randalls in the head with a kneelift that has to make Randalls see stars! SB: A kneelift? KNEELIFT? BB: Randalls is almost unconscious in the middle of the ring, but GUNS continues to work on him, this time jabbing that stake into the back of Randalls' knee!! Randalls is getting paid back for the hole he put in GUNS' knee! On the other side of the ring, the ref is beginning to move, and outside the ring, Hornet is just getting up from the spill he took at the hands of Randalls that sent him head head first to the floor. GUNS' rolls out of the ring with the stake. Randalls is still down and out on the mat, and Worthington and Hornet get to their feet at the same time in the ring. Worthington goes over to ask Hornet what happened, and Hornet seems to be explaining going over the top rope. But neither man seems to know why Randalls' is bleeding from the nose. Worthington goes over and kneels beside Randalls. He lifts the arm a couple of times and checks the bleeding. Worthington has just called for the bell, he's going to rule Randalls unable to continue and it calling for some medical help. SB: I can't believe this. I really can't believe this. How in the world is GUNS' able to do that if he just had surgery? BB: A better question is where is the rest of Cornette and his CORP when their man is down here bleeding. SB: Ray S. told me after the Melton/Tsunami match that he was gonna take NC-17 and update them on some things. They may be back in the dressing rooms and have no idea what's going on. BB: Meanwhile, Worthington and Hornet are still talking. But here comes GUNS again. He pushes Hornet and Worthington to the mat and goes for GUNS again with the stake. Apparently he's decided his work here isn't done as he jabs the stake into knee of Randalls. That elicits a response from Randalls, the pain bringing him back to consciousness. Worthington is first over to GUNS to try and stop him, but he gets pushed out of the way and out of the ring, hitting hard on the floor. And now Hornet goes over and tries to pull GUNS off of the injured Randalls. GUNS tries to push Hornet away, but Hornet pushes back. Hornet dodges a big shortarm clothesline from GUNS, spins him around and sits the big man down with an atomic drop that sends him across the ring. Hornet helps Randalls to his feet. Randalls is obviously limping slightly. Randalls and Hornet are back in one corner, facing off against GUNS who fills the opposite corner. Hornet whispers something in Randalls ear! SB: This is it! We now know who Hornet's partner is gonna be. BB: Randalls and Hornet advance slowly towards GUNS who does not come out of his corner to meet them. Both men seem eager to get their hands on the big man, but they're being very cautious. Randalls takes one step ahead of Hornet. Hornet just clipped him! Hornet just CLIPPED RANDALLS IN THAT INJURED KNEE! Randalls drops like a sack of bricks, howling in pain!!! Hornet grabs his legs, and he cinches in the SCORPION DEATHLOCK!!!!! GUNS comes out of the corner and puts the boots to Randalls' head and midsection! SB: IT WAS A SETUP! I can't believe it!!! If Jim Williams ever needed any more proof, here it is! BB: But here comes the calvary for Randalls!!! The Karelins and NC-17 are running down the aisle! Hornet lets up on the Scorpion and rolls out of the ring, but GUNS is still in their pounding away on Randalls. The Karelins hit the ring first, and Alexandr Karelin crashes into GUNS, knocking him away from Randalls. Wildstar and Tsunami hit next, and they pull the bleeding Randalls out of the ring before GUNS can get back to him. But here comes Hornet back in the ring with a chair! He nails Ivan Karelin to the back of the head, then throws it outside the ring. Alex Karelin and GUNS are trading blows. Alex turns to aid his brother who is being pummeled by Hornet, and GUNS rocks him with a kneelift. Wildstar runs back down the aisle, having gotten Randalls back to the dressing rooms. He picks up the discarded chair on the way in and goes after Hornet. He misses Hornet with the chair and has it ripped out of his hands by the larger man. Hornet swings and hits Wildstar, and then heads towards the Karelins, who abandon the attack and roll out of the ring. Ray S. Cornette motions for all three men to regroup, and the CORP heads out the back door, leaving GUNS and Hornet in the ring! We're gonna get an interview with these two men, fans, in just a moment when my son Billy can get down there. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this in the CSWA! SB: I'm telling you. Jim Williams has been saying it for months now, and he's been proven right over and over again. Hornet is the Antichrist, and all these little kids out here with facepaint on....their parents need to take a second look. BB: Let's head down to the ring. ByB: Thanks, Dad. I'm standing here with Hornet and GUNS! Let's start with the obvious....GUNS, how in the world are you able to do what you just did? The whole world knows you just had knee surgery a few weeks ago. GUNS: And the whole world is right, Billy. But once the doctors began the surgery, they realized they would have to totally replace my knee rather than be able to reconstruct it. So, you might say that I was the recipient of a 'bionic' knee. Anyway, you just saw what I'm able to do. And Mike Randalls got what he's deserved since APOCALYPSE, plain and simple. ByB: Hornet, what brought all this on for you? Hornet: Billy, in June, Mike Randalls did one of the most gruesome things every done in our sport. He put a whole in this man's knee right here. What he got tonight was just a portion of what Randalls has given out. GUNS came to me and asked for my help, and that's exactly what he got. GUNS: I owe this man for a lot of things, but this was important. ByB: So, does this mean that we'll be seeing Hornet and GUNS take on Adler and Windham at SUPERSTITION? Hornet: I don't know, Billy, I've yet to ask GUNS if he'll do it or not. But if he'll have me as a partner, I know I'd be happy to have him in my corner. What do you say big man? GUNS: Well, let's see. The knee's feeling fine, although I'll probably need some aspirin later on tonight. And I've definitely got some unfinished business to take care of, and not just with Randalls. I'll be there. ByB: Well, there you have it, fans! Hornet has found a new partner, and his name is GUNS! These two men have sealed it with a handshake, or maybe a contract in Mike Randalls' blood. Back to you, Dad! BB: What a night. I thought I had seen enough when NC-17 turned on Teri Melton. But this....wow. Well, fans, thanks for joining us for CSWA SHOWTIME! We'll see at SUPERSTITION '95: COLLISION COURSE! For my son Billy, Sammy Benson, and myself, this is Bill Buckley saying good night! SB: I really need a drink.........
